We all have a calling from God. When people hear about calling they are quick to think about pastoral work. We are all called, some are called to be lawyers, doctors, architects, scientists, etc

It’s crucial for us parents to train our children to discover their callings rather than train them to get good jobs. Most people work for money, but it’s important to work for a vision. Money should work for you to execute your vision. Unfortunately most people work for money!

Provision follows a vision! Vision always precedes provision!

Let’s study the calling and destiny of Jacob. Three weeks ago I shared from this passage; the voice is Jacob’s but the hands are the hands of Esau.

Genesis 27:21-24

“Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.” So Jacob went near to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” And he did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau’s hands; so he blessed him. Then he said, “ Are you really my son Esau?” He said, “I am. ”

In the above passage, Isaac wanted to release a blessing to his favorite son, Esau. Rebekah wanted the blessing to be given to Jacob. So, in this set up who was right and who was in right standing with the design of God concerning these two children?

Sometimes as parents we are caught in this similar trap, trying to impose our will as we lead our children. The Bible exhorts us to train up a child in the way he should go. It’s not the way we want him to go!

Genesis 25:21-23

“Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived. But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the LORD. And the LORD said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.”

The Bible records that after inquiring from the LORD, the younger was chosen and was predestined to above his older brother Esau. As we raise up our children, let’s inquire of the Lord about their destinies here on earth.

I believe there are certain things we cannot question God. Before birth, Jacob was chosen and marked for greatness. You are also chosen before you were formed in the womb. This is the sovereignty of God, an act of His Pre-eminence. He is the Potter!

Romans 8:28-31“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, and these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Psalm 40:6-8

“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”

Your identity is within you. Your destiny is within you. Your purpose is within you. It’s all been written on your heart by the hand of God. Everything is wrapped up in design, the design of God.

Hebrews 10:5-7

“Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ”

Books of destiny in heaven. We have to know how to open these books and read from the books.

Let’s look at this scripture in Isaiah Chapter 29 verses 11-12

“The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I am not literate.”

Genesis 27:41-42

“So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.” And the words of Esau her older son were told to Rebekah. So she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him, “Surely your brother Esau comforts himself concerning you by intending to kill you.”

I want you to see how God manoeuvres when someone is in their divine purpose. In the above passage, Esau wanted to kill his brother Jacob because he felt cheated and deceived.

Let’s read this account from the book of Genesis Chapter 33 verses 1-4; 8-10“Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants. And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last. Then he crossed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.

Then Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” And he said, “These are to find favour in the sight of my lord.” But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.” And Jacob said, “No, please, if I have now found favour in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me.”

Wow that which was meant to tear down the family was turned by God. There was reconciliation

They were all blessed and were walking in the perfect will of God and strife was no longer there. The conclusion of the matter is, if you are called nothing and no one can destroy you. Its only you who can mess up but God can still come and help us.

Be blessed
